Youth In Revolt 01/10/2010
![]() Honestly, I wasn't that excited about seeing Youth In Revolt. However, I did for the sake of this site. I figured it's probably one of the newest movies in theaters that most people are interested in at the present moment. Youth In Revolt is FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!! I was pleasantly surprised. It starts out a little slow. However, I suppose it was necessary to build the foundation for the story. Michael Cera plays Nicky, a loser/loner/nerd that only has one friend whose life sucks more than his own. His mom depends on child support money and sleeps with every available loser around. When sailors come looking for the current loser in his mom's life, they go into hiding for a short time. This is when Nicky meets Sheeni, played by Portia Doubleday. For Nicky, it's love at first sight. Her parents are religious fanatics, her brother drugs everyone, and her boyfriend is a goody-two-shoes preppy kid. After Nicky, his mother, and her loser boyfriend return from hiding, Nicky decides he can't live without Sheeni. From here, he creates a bad-ass French alter-ego who "guides" him into destruction and romantic success. This movie has a little for everyone. It has the Michael Cera feel combined with a Fight Club edge. When the family is traveling, it is done with claymation, puppets, animation, totally cute! Love, action, drugs, sex make for a movie anyone can enjoy. The movie proves, no matter how lame of a personality you may have, there's a little bad-ass in all of us. 2 Comments | AuthorWrite something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
