Well, I've spent the past two weeks in Orlando hanging out at Universal, Disney, and the beach. It's been a great time! I'm thinking about moving here. Tonight I'm ringing in the New Year VIP style at Club Bliss. Come on out and party it up with us! Add Comment Facebook is getting creepier by the day, yet I just can't help myself, and actually hope to work there. I am on there wayyyy too much. Although, since beginning my master's degree, I am often logged on to facebook, but not really using it. Anyway, it turns out that facebook has a new face recognition feature to help you tage your friends in pictures. It does this with face recognition (of course) and using your group of friends as a reference. Also, if facebook determines that the same person has appeared in several photos within the same photo album, it will bring all of those pictures up, ask you who the person is, and allow you to tag that person in several photos all at once. This new feature will be deployed to 5% of users next week and then progress accordingly there after. One of these "things" is Web 2.0. Dr. Jay E. Gillette's ICS 602 Human Communication class, myself and my colleagues were assigned a presentation on Web 2.0. For our presentation, we worked with our groups to explain what Web 2.0 is and present a Web 2.0 application. So what is it? Web 2.0 is a collaborative environment on the Internet where several people at various locations can all work on an application simultaneously. This platform is considered to be interoperable and has a user-centered design in a virtual community. Many of these applications are based around project management and file or photo sharing. Some of my personal favorite applications that have been presented: www.gild.com – “The career game for serious technologists” www.goplanapp.com – “The best way to collaborate with your peers.” Others that you're probably aware of: www.facebook.com twitter.com docs.google.com http://www.wikipedia.org/ www.pandora.com http://www.hulu.com/ digg.com www.linkedin.com Any weblog, typically referred to as blog for short. Any website where a visitor can leave a comment is considered a blog. If you are reading this, you are interacting with a Web 2.0 application. So while you may have never heard of Web 2.0, it's unlikely that you have never used a Web 2.0 application. | AuthorFollow me on twitter!!!! Want to
