 So, I wasn't going to review this movie because it's been out for awhile. My daughter and I have watched it a lot lately. The first time she saw it was at the theater with Grandma. Then, we rented it. Then, Santa brought it for Christmas. So let's recap, go over the good, and the bad. RECAP The movie starts with Mr. Fredrickson as a young boy. He watches a movie about an adventurer name Charles Muntz. He leaves the movie and meets a girl. They both want adventure. It is her dream to go to Paradise Falls, in South America. They grow up, she dies, he gets old. The people come to take Mr. Fredrickson to a retirement home, he asks for a minute and goes back inside. The next thing you know, Mr. Fredrickson lets up a bazillion helium-filled balloons and his house flies away! Just as he's relaxing, he hears a knock on the door... way up in the sky! It's Russell, the boy next door who is trying to earn a Wilderness Explorer badge. Well, Mr. Fredrickson and Russell fly the house to Paradise Falls, they meet Charles Muntz, and encounter A LOT of adventure! THE GOOD I love the story line it's cute, very colorful, and the animation is amazing. Russell is funny, he's kind of dumb, but he's funny. THE BAD Like I said, I've seen this 800 times and never had a problem with it, other than the fact that, I've seen it 4,500,000 times. I just thought it was a fabulous movie. Don't get me wrong, I still do. However, my daughter pointed out a flaw that I had over looked. It went like this: her- I'm a big boy. me - You're a big girl. her- I'm a big BOY! me- Why do you want to be a boy? her - The boy's in the movie. That made me think... UP has a cast of males. There is only one female in the entire movie and she dies about 5 minutes in. Even all of the dogs are male. That's my only complaint. Commentsjeremiah Moses 03/06/2010 07:30
I noticed that in your review that it says the cast is mainly boys and that the only girl dies 5 minutes into the film. Have you ever thought about Kevin, the snipe. We discover towards the middle that Kevin is a girl because she is trying to get food back to her babies. I just thought you would find that interesting. Hope 03/19/2010 20:28
