The Princess and the Frog 01/10/2010
![]() I took my daughter to see Disney's, The Princess and the Frog. Overall, I think it was a cute movie. There are some things that I liked a lot and some that I did not. First, I'll go over the bad, then the good. BAD THINGS It takes place in New Orleans and is centered around Voodoo. Parts of it were scary for my 2 year old daughter. Some scenes have a lot of shadows that are supposed to represent dead people. "The Shadow Man" uses these spirits to take advantage of people. At one point he promises the shadows "all the wayward souls" in New Orleans. The other thing I didn't like was it makes white people look rich, spoiled, lazy, and stupid. The black people look poor and unlucky. GOOD THINGS There is more I like about this movie than I don't. There is a strong repetitive theme that you can't just wish on a star and expect to get what you want. It says, wishing on a star will only take you half way. The rest is hard work. Throughout the movie, Princess Tiana works diligently to save money to open her own restaurant. The movie actually SHOWS her saving money and working multiple jobs. Another theme is that material things aren't nearly as important as the most important thing, LOVE. Princess Tiana is a very honest, hard-working person. In the end, it pays off.
