Dear John 02/06/2010
 I got in the theater about twenty minutes prior to the beginning of the movie. I quickly made two observations. 1. This movie is going to sell out. 2. There are no guys in here at all. Observation 1, it did not completely sell out, but the ushers did have to tell us to pack in and help people find seats. Many groups weren't able to sit together. Observation 2, a few guys did show up, but not many. John (Channing Tatum), is on a two-week leave from the Army when he meets Savannah (Amanda Seyfried) after jumping off a pier to get her purse which had fallen into the ocean. In a two-week period of time she meets his dad, he beats up all of her friends, they have their first fight, and their first reconciliation. The reconciliation came about when he tries to go to her house to talk to her but she isn't home, so he left a note for her. On her way back to school, she stops by his house to say good-bye and she has a letter for him as well. Since John only has a year left to serve in the Army, they decide to make things work. They write back and forth and fall deeper in love. Then, 9/11 happens. Will John come home when his time is up or re-enlist? Can their love sustain two more years? This is a really really really good movie. There were a couple instances where the theater broke out in laughter because you could hear all the sniffles of people crying. There are a few twists and turns. Dear John is not as predictable as most "girly" movies. I was absolutely going to say this is a chick-flick until I overheard a guy saying "Some chick-flicks are actually good. This is one of them." To all you people out there that say The Notebook is your favorite movie, know that it doesn't even compare to Dear John. 5 Comments | AuthorWrite something about yourself.
