Crazy Heart 02/13/2010
![]() Crazy Heart is a heart-warming story about Bad Blake (Jeff Bridges), a has-been country singer. He drives around from town to town in his ancient Suburban to do concerts at various dive-bars for audiences of roughly 20 people. In a random town on the road, Bad Blake gives an interview to Jane (Maggie Gyllenhaal), as a favor to a guy playing in his band. They end up falling in a rocky sort of love. Bad Blake helped Tommy (Colin Farrel), become a country super-star and is bitter. This is a very touchy subject with Bad Blake. In an act of financial desperation, Bad Blake opens a concert for Tommy and finds out that his perceptions have been all wrong. Tommy is still a sweet guy, very lovable, and just wants to help Bad Blake out. He has never forgotten who helped him get his start. Bad Blake make bad decisions in his love life, career, and personal life. When he loses Jane's son, it's the wake up call he needs to turn his life around. The movie is pretty slow yet very realistic and wonderfully done. You feel like you're watching the life of a washed-up-lonely-broke-alcoholic who is holding on to a dream with every ounce of his being. All of the actors are so convincing. You honestly feel like you're watching the lives of your friends. It's slow, some people got up and left during the film, others applauded and stayed through the credits to listen to the music.
