Social Network 10/02/2010
![]() The first time I saw the trailer for Social Network, I knew it was going to be just the motivation I was going to need for my upcoming school year. A master's degree in Information and Communication Sciences. What is ICS? It's a lot of things, but a major componenet is how your computer talks to mine, computer networking, and other hardware applications. Well, I was right. Social Network is an awesome movie. I love it! It's a non-linear film, which means that the story goes back and forth between time periods. Social Network actually occurs in a legal deposition, but it's the flashbacks that show us just how it all went down. We're all told to be careful what we put in writing, whether on a blog, chat, email, or paper - and this movie, Mark Zuckerburg's life, is a perfect example of how that can come back to haunt you. Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg), is a less than cool kid at Harvard. He's also a computer genius. After being blown off by a girl, told to compare girls to animals, getting drunk, and blogging; he comes up with the idea to rank girls in a hotornot type fashion. He creates the website in a few hours and crashes Harvard's servers by 4 a.m. After the news spread, some kids who wanted to make a website approached Mark. They needed someone to write the code. Mark agreed but then got consumed with his own project... facebook. With a little start-up capital from his best friend, Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield), Mark was on his way. Like I said, I loved the movie. I'm sure a lot of you have already seen Social Network or are going to watch it. Make sure to comment and leave your opinion! Comments10/02/2010 07:30
The movie is pure Sorkin, leaving no scene wasted and tying everything together.
